I've been in africa 2 years ago when i came back i had malaria symptoms and now i have the same symptoms. is it possible that the malaria show up again

A friend of mine caught malaria in Africa and he used to have bouts every so often when he came back to UK.

I got malaria in the jungle in 1975 and again when i returned home, it can return.
