Malrotated Kidneys

Will keep this very brief. Have had kidney problems for over 35 years. Know what the pain is like. Have seen 2 different urologists over the last 4 years who ordered various tests. CT scans showed kidneys to be badly scarred,a few simple cysts and both malrotated. Neither urologist seemed duly concerned. I am passing blood and in severe pain on right side. Saw urologist 2 weeks ago and he said that nothing abnormal has shown up~and he no longer needs to see me!!! The pain is really bad and I can't help but think that one of these findings is the cause. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? I am quite desperate. Dot

That sounds horrible!  I can't believe you have been sent away with such obvious symptoms, especially of pain!  I think another Urologist is in order!  Something is NOT right!

Thanks for the reply,Melody. Yes it is horrible. But,as I said, I've had kidney trouble for the last 35 years or more. Can't really fault urologists. They have been very thorough. But last scans showed up these cysts on my kidneys and they are malrotated  i.e twisted. Because of all the treatment over the years, they're also badly scarred. I thought/think that one or all is causing my severe pain, but they both said not. This is why I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. It could  be something that is not showing up on the scans. Infection or inflammation, maybe. I know I'm playing the guessing game. I think I'll have to pay them another visit,as I can't stay like this. Trouble is, I have useless GPs,so will have to try and re refer myself. Thank you again for your concern. If/when I get an answer.I'll let you know.

Yes, don't give up, and don't give up on being proactive.  Remember it's the squeaky wheel that gets the attention.  You are entitled to better care than this.  It sounds like you've really been through it already....  You don't deserve to be dismissed now.  How can they dismiss severe pain anyway? That is just inhuman as far as I am concerned.  You keep on re-referring yourself, until you get the answers and help and respect you need, I say!  And I sure hope someone else responds to your post, here, who can help you more than me.
