Mammogram call back

Posted , 6 users are following.

I have been on this forum many times for menopause

i have another issue regarding mammogram

hopefully I can get some input here I posted on forum for breast/mammogram and didnt get any responses

I am here today because I had my yearly mammogram and I got called back

I am 58, go to my regular checkups and mammograms

I do have dense breasts which makes it a bit tougher to see

The nurse did call me with the results of the first mammo.

I didn't fully understand what she meant,(because of course i am freaking out) but they need to check an area on each breast further

I do not think they saw anything specific, but it looked different from my last years test

I personally do not feel anything (i know that doesnt mean much)

Needless to say I am a wreck I am very worried

Any comments or help would be aprreciated

Thank you!

Hello, that is a scary call to receive. Its been a couple of years since my last mammogram appointment put off due to covid. I received a call with my last one asking me to come in and see the doctor because something was different, of course our minds go to worse case. Apparently the image had a shadow, it was image error only, it happens.

I think a positive note being we go regular to check these things out so any issues can be caught. Best thoughts to you.

Hello, I had too call back and they did biopsy but it was nothing. I too have dense breasts, they scared me too but its just tissue I guess because of all hormones. they even said it was birad 4 that means highly suspicious for malignancy in med language. but was nothing. Dont worry ! Hope this helps a bit. feel better ! xoxo

I also got a call to go back and have a sonogram done of breast. When it was done they had trouble finding anything, only which they thought to be a lymph node, which is common. I will have to go back for another mammogram in 6 months. So please try and not worry, thou its very hard not too.

I've had the callback twice now. It is scary, but I believe that 85% of the time everything is fine. It is more common with dense breasts. . I have proactively scheduled ultrasounds at the same time as my annual mammogram to avoid getting the dreaded callback. That way I know everything is ok before I leave the clinic - it has helped me with the anxiety surrounding this procedure.

Thank you for responding . I go this coming Thursday for the call back

The report did say they saw benign calcifications No groups of calcifications (which is good) and no swollen lymph nodes

So because of density there are areas on each breast they need to take a better look
