Man new to LS or Erosive Lichen Planus..

I am a 25 year old man.. I started itching in the crotch area months ago.. at first we thought it was a fungal infection so I took the necessary creams and medications... i.e. clotrimazole cream, fluconazole tablets. Nothing got better after months. Eventually when I became much more conscious of the situation and started to worry about it, I noticed that the itch had spread to my buttocks and anal area, this is when I really started panicking. My mental state became very bad. Becoming extremely depressed that nothing is getting better and now I have become extremely attentive of ANY change. The whole area of the glans, shaft, testicles are extremely irritated (literally red). Buttocks is extremely irritated as well. I've consulted two doctors within days one said it was just severe irritation and the other ''pruri ani''. I came across a page that described Lichen Sclerosis and it is now extremely clear to me that this is most likely what I have. Finding out how rare the disease is, especially in men aswell and in addition to that it covering the buttocks and anus seems to be one in a billion. I have 3 very clear white ''patches'' on the glans and it seems like some more are forming when I stretch and move the skin with certain lighting, I am sure they will be fully apparent soon. I am not circumcised either. Sometimes (when I went to the doctors obviously) it is much less red), and sometimes it is extreme. With the skin of the glans becoming very wrinkly/shiny like texture. I am struggling so much with this and no not see myself continuing life with this condition. I will take any and all suggestions advice with this as I am holding on for dear life right now. Thank you, bless you all..

firstly, i understand your stress and worry, but right now what is terrifying you will not feel so bad with time, so just give your body some time to adjust, give time for your mind to calm down and accept that it is a stress now but things will get better...and life is more than white patches on your penis anyway.

do share some photos if you feel to, it would help make clearer your situation.

have you had a clinical diagnosis?

    take care

Be certain that you have a proper diagnosis before moving forward. I'd make that my first priority if you haven't done so already. I needed a biopsy for the diagnosis.

In some ways, I do understand how you feel. Though I am female, I received a LS diagnosis when I was around your age and was told it is very unusual at that age. Though I didn't have any symptoms for many years (just some discoloration), it was still a challenging condition.

I'm in my early fifties now and the condition has unfortunately progressed and my anus is severely affected as well. I feel that my condition worsened because it wasn't explained how critical it is to treat it with Clobetasol, Triamcinolone Acetonide Ointment (.1%) or a similar topical ointment twice a week. (Get the ointment and not the cream; the cream can burn)! I just learned the importance of treating the condition last year! Now that I do that, the itching, burning and tearing of the skin is much less than before. Crisco oil actually helps with the itching too, but keep in mind that oils do stain clothing.

My boyfriend is my age also and was just diagnosed with LS. (It is not contagious and cannot be transmitted). I had him start using the same cream I use (the Triamcinolone) and it works great for him.

As a life coach who specializes in mindfulness, I just want to offer this advice... Nothing can be solved by worrying about it. The condition is not one of the worst you could have; it truly can be managed. Your life is and will be so much more than just this condition. I've dealt with a lot of negative things in my life, including a car accident (a guy ran a red light) that nearly caused me to lose an eye, but I have always bounced back stronger. You can too! I'm here to help others deal with difficult situations; please reach out if you need support!

    Only the best to you!
