I had my MUA 12 weeks after my TKR and I am now 19 weeks post TKR.   I was told by my doctor that after the MUA for the following 2 weeks, my job was going to PT everyday and to do my ROM exercises every couple of hours but nothing else, no walking, no strength exercises nothing that might would cause swelling.  I was -5/100 before MUA , the doctor got me to 0/125.  Right after that I was in PT and they could only get 0/120, the next day I was at 0/105, the next day I was 0/110 and worked my way back to 0/120.    Now I am at 0/125 and working on 0/130.   Feeling great and doing more than I could do a year before the knee surgery.

For me (and everyone is different) I had no more pain, my swelling decreased and after my two week period of rest I was much more mobile than I was before the MUA because of my bend.

So for me the MUA recovery was only two weeks and it was easy.  But again remember that everyone is very different in their recovery.

Hi there....so in reading your response you manipulation was the way to go. ...?...I just don't want to regress bit staying at a bend of 74 is brutal..I just want to be able to walk as normal as my normal is....hey and when you leave after your procedure are you able to walk with cane ? Do you use a walker or just keep going as you were before procedure.. (post tkr). .could I manage at home alone?. Like I did post tkr with just daily pop ins from family....I guess you can read my anxiety I am experiencing.

I had an MUA 12 weeks after my TKR, surgeon got my bemd to 130, but I can only get 115 which I'm ok about as I had hardly any bend before. I had bad pain for about a week after but that soon went. Hope it goes ok x

I understand the fear. I also I find myself so tense trying not to take care of my knee. I am at 5 months and I am slowly learning to RELAX! When I relax there is less muscle tension. I also have to be a broken record say you are very early in your recovery so you are right where you should be for your recovery. Take of yourself, relax and be patient 🙄. You will get better, it just takes time.
