Manuka Honey

I am interested to know the forums views on Manuka honey.  Does rubbing it into LS affected skin really help or would another moisturiser do just as well?  I'm intersted to know how many of you have tried it.  I'm slightly concerned because it is said to have acidic qualities and I wonder if this would irritate my LS.  Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi,  I use it on tears and find it is immediately soothing for me.  We are all different though so you should do what you feel comfortable trying.  Good idea to ask others though as if lots of us find this result you can be a  bit more reassured before trying for yourself.

I find that if I am diligent about applying Eucerin the heavy cream it really helps me. Coconut oil killed me!

sorry to hear you had a prob with coconut oil. Would you mind explaining what happened? I use virgin olive oil from a  wide necked bottle in the fridge but have a mix and also coconut oil on its own. It can be a bit stingy...was that it for you?

I have a problem with coconut oil too, but I find that oily things down there tend to irritate me. Interestingly, I had cracked skin on my elbows and decided I'd use the coconut oil there, and that hurt too, so maybe I have an allergy to it?

Are emollients more for comfort, or for actually helping repair the skin? (And prevent fusing)

Emollients are for washing the areas without causing more harm and for moisturising.  I believe they can help prevent fusing which seems to occur when two inflamed raw areas are touching.
