Manuka Honey and Zinc Ointment

Hi everybody. I trust that you are coping well under these not-so-good circumstances. I am still searching for manuka honey and have not found it anywhere in my country (health shops nor online) all out of stock. I have now branched out my search to Australia and New Zealand and found a company in Melbourne who has stock and they do international orders, but now the dilemma...the honey is rated under three headings. UMF  MGO  and ACTIVE. I know, according to advice on this site, that I should use the 15+. Should the 15+ relate to UMF  MGO  or ACTIVE please? Thanks so much in anticipation.

Something else which I would like to share. Two days ago I suddenly had a terrible flare-up of both LS and LP  and out of the blue, a tear at the opening to the Vjay. Immediately used coconut oil and aloe vera gel and although it helped the LP on my legs, it would not take the itch away from the LS and I was reluctant to use Dermovate on an open tear. Out of desperation I used some zinc ointment on that spot and could immediately feel the cooling effect and the itch eased off. Used it again the next day (3 times) and the tear closed up! I remembered my late Mom always used zinc ointment when babies had nappy rash and happy to say it worked for me ( and hope it continues to do that!!). Anyway just thought I would share that and it might be worth a try. Nice thing is.. zinc ointment costs next to nothing. Take care everybody and tons of blessings. I'm hoping somebody will have some advice re the manuka honey grading please. xoxo

Thanks Cuppa for sharing your findings.  I will add the zinc ointment to the list, just in case I need another approach.

    Hi cuppa T

Thankyou for that I actually take a zinc vitamin everyday too, how old are you and how long have you had LP. I am 57 and have had it about 13 years it started after an abnormal smear test

Hi Karen. I am 60 yrs old and was diagnosed with LS in April of this year and with LP in May 2015. Looking back, I now know that i've had LS for the past 5 years or so, but had always been misdiagnosed by GP for candida and menopausal problems.. For the past two years the GP was not even examining me anymore, just prescribing a different vaginal cream and oestrogen tabs to insert whenever I walked into her rooms. Although I continuously told her that the itch was outside and not inside, she told me that is normal... the itch runs from the inside.. outwards until the day I took a mirror and looked!!! White patches all over right from anal area to clitoris. I then took myself to a gynea who took 11 specimens for biopsy and the result was LS. Immediately after the biopsy, reddish-brown patches started to appear on my thighs, legs, arms, armpits, underneath the boobies etc. with a vengeance!! so Gynea sends me to Derm( and seemed quite relieved in doing so cos did not look very knowledgeable about the LS). Derm does biopsies and result... LP. I am very worried as I am beginning to have discomfort when having to pass urine and I also get abdominal and tubular cramps, like period pains but I have had a hysterectomy in 1999 already and the right fallopian tube was removed. Gynea told me that left tube has completely shrivelled up already, so why would it pain there? I now see on this site that LP can go internal. How will I know if this is indeed happening? Take care and all the best.

      Hi Karen.

My heart bleeds for you, as it does for all on this site. Sometimes life just seems so unfair, but the good part is, we can count on each other to get through this. No, I have not had any abnormal smears and the hysterectomy was done due to fibroid tumours on the lining of the uterus causing lots of pain and discomfort during menstrual periods and excessive bleeding every fortnight or so. Would it help if you only stuck to alkaline foods to reduce the burning in the mouth? What do you use in your mouth? Have you perhaps tried glycerine? Not sure what to suggest to you as I feel so inadequate when it comes to this disease! Does the coconut oil and aloe vera not help for the itch on the scalp? Take care Karen and know that we are not alone. Much love and hugs.
