Marina Coil Nightmare Experience

I had a Marina Coil fitted Nov2014 after I had to have an abortion. It was 2 months before I planned to travel.

I'm not sure exactly when it started, at first I put it down to the trauma of having to have the abortion, but I was extremely angry at life. I was smashing doors and walls in when things didn't go my way, I was crying every single day sometimes becsuse we ran out of milk you know! A couple of times I even attacked my partner.. now this never happened before. We both just took this for a year and a half. It got so much I nearly lost my partner I was horrible, looking back now I hated myself.

Not only did it effect me emotionally It gave me BV which I am still fighting today to get rid of that's over 3 years I've had it.

I had my coil removed April 2016 and literally the next day I felt like my old self. It was crazy, I couldn't see how much it had changed me until it was out.

I've always had really bad PMS, very irritable and short tempered. It's like the coil escalated those feelings permanently like having PMS 24/7. Removing it was the best thing I've ever done and since I have just had a natural cycle with no contraception except for condoms.

My advise to anyone thinking to get the coil would be don't i indutrd almost 4 years of s**t I could have just avoided by not getting it put in.

I also have a friend who is experiencing what I was, uncontrollable outbursts of anger. I hope she will remove hers soon!

Hi Annie. I also had a really bad experience with this hateful device. Mine was extreme anxiety, panic attacks & depression. I am post menopausal (or so the doctor had told me afterwards!) when I had it replaced. It has totally messed my hormones up, now on hrt which I am hoping will balance my hormones. My first one worked great when I was peri. Had second one removed a couple of weeks ago. I could also feel it which I never could with the first one. Never again!
