Honestly Kerry everyone is different, 25mg will work perfectly for hundreds of people it just depends on the circumstances.

If you feel like you can cope on 25mg I'd say stay on it and see where it takes you.

If you feel like you're not coping then maybe speak to your doctor about increasing.

Thank you, I only started it on Monday, not had too many side effects, tried 50mg yesterday and was in a bit of a state, tremors, dizzy, being sick. I went back to 25mg today, I'm going to stay on it for a few more weeks now.

Hi Kerry, you might find it better to increase slowly and gradually, 25mg at a time.

I started on 50mg and had severe side effects for two to three weeks, I increased to 75mg after seven weeks, and will not increase, if necessary, until I've been taking 75mg for at least seven weeks. When I increased my dose the side effects were less noticeable than when I started.

My first scrip was for 50mg, increasing to 100mg after a week. Personally I think this was too big a hike and too quick and stayed on 50mg.  Sertraline is a slow acting drug and it takes time for your body to get used to it and to feel the effects of each dosage. Some say it takes 3 months to reach maximum potential for each dose.

    Hope this helps!
