Meaning of diagnosis asthma with fixed airway obstruction

Does anyone know if a diagnosis of asthma with fixed airway obstruction is the same as asthma/copd.  Thanks.

I have been given a similar diagnosis. He always asks how my asthma is doing. But tells me I have obstructed breathing. I think over the years asthma does damage to the air sacs like copd or turning into copd. It is confusing though.

Thanks your reply. I agree it is confusing. My husband is 72 this month and was diagnosed in August 2015, so nearly 3 years ago.

He never had asthma before although it is in his family. He smoked since his early teens and gave up around 10 years. Although he gave up 7 years before the diagnosis the damage was done. He coughs all the time and I think he should be under the care of the hospital. But he just gets checks with the surgery nurse. He has other health problems as do I and I am worried about the future.
