Sorry pressed a wrong key, dont know what went to will begin again.

When i read the what side effects are from these two tablets they are, headaches, vomiting, stomach aches, problems with eyesight,

this is the reason i saw a doctor, not to mention the mental side effects these can cause.

I will have to have a word with my doctor this morning, is it me, but i know doctors are overworked at the hospital but surly they must know look before giving out medication.

Hello Margaret, what medication are you talking about?  All medication has side effects and the doctors are aware and they weigh up the benefits against the side effects and usually discuss any adverse effects with the patient.

Sorry the medication is for virtigo, which i posted yesterday, and i was reading that the side effects are the same as i was being treated for, if that makes sense.Clarithromycin and prochlorperazine

Clarithromycin is an antibiotic, so, presumably you need that and, amongst other things, the prochlorperazine is an anti-emetic, which will stop you feeling nauseous and will help with the vertigo.  One of my GPs, now retired, used to tell me not to read the side effects!!

Try not to worry Margaret and you may start to feel better.  The Prochlorperazine has been around for years.

Why are you taking the Clarithromycin?  I have found a study that was published last year and I agree,  I wouldn't like to take it,  can you ask for an alternative?

the Clarithromycin is for the ear infection, but i am seeing my doctor in half an hour and will ask for a alternative, thank you for your information, and i agree with your doctor its not a good thing to read what the side effects are,

Morning margaret.I have no wish to be rude but, as the saying goes a few deep breaths, then try to camly sit down & type in tablets& what for to help folk to post info, just to add all tablets CAN have side effects, they list them all to cover there butts.NO offence meant, as MR JONES would say??. take care. Dave.

Honestly Margaret - if you read the side effects of virtually ALL medications they will include those!  All antibiotics cause nausea for a lot of people unfortunately. When they write the data sheets (as these things are called) they include everything that was mentioned during clinical trials - so that they can't be sued when it happens!

You need an antibiotic and you need one that will get into your ears - some are better for some places than others. You need an anti-emetic to stop the feeling of nausea from the ear infection which is affecting your balance mechanism.

Just try to calm down and curl up on bed and sleep - sleep is a wonderful healer. And you don't feel ill while asleep!

thank you i know, its just that im not used to being ill, and i know that im lucky. but thanks for telling me.

hi to you both (Eileen and Margaret)...if looking for an anti-emetic, try Stemitl in this case, as it also assists with the imbalance that maybe occuring form the affected Eustachen tube...the one that goes from ear to nose, and "Pops" when landing in a plane.....Bron

To reiterate Margaret.  Every tablet under the sun has side effects.  That doesn't necessarily mean you will have some or all of the side effects.  One side effect from pred is increased appeptite, I don't have that, whereas others do.  Another is water retention, I don't have that either.  It's different horses for courses as the saying goes. Take it easy Margaret.  Regards Pat

Hi Margaret...sorry to upset you more....no they don't....I can tell you some Very scary things that I had to rectify during my days in the ED....and the best people I know for medicinal information are our pharmacologists...if you are ever unsure re any medication, firstly speak to a pharmicist about side effects, and then your doc/GP...even to mixing certain drugs together...as some overlap, and then we get double the doseage....Bron

Good morning Bronwyn, went to see my doctor , bless her she is lovely, listens and reads info i take her and never tells me off for it.

Any way she changed one of my medications as she did not like it gave my another and its helped.

I was in with her for twenty mins, she said she has learned some things as well about PMR , my dexa scan results are not back yet, so she will ring me when they are and if i need anymore meds for my bones she will discuss this with me.

Hope you are keeping well. hugs biggrin
