I will be starting to take medication for my depression soon but I'm feeling very nervous about it.

I guess there are pros and cons with all meds but suffering from depression and anxiety myself I know that I need to be on my anti depressant medication. I was first diagnosed with depression almost thirty years ago and I have tried many different types of antidepressants over the years. Luvox has worked the best for me.

Others I tried either didn't work or had unpleasant side effects. It really is different for each individual and trial & error is often necessary.

I would strongly recommend that you write down how you are feeling day by day including if you are experiencing any side effects because it is soon forgotten if you don't jot it down, believe me!

Doctors are so busy so it helps them if you can give them clear feedback on how you are going with new medication.

Pharmacists are often very helpful too when you are unable to see your doctor.

Seeing a counsellor or psychologist can be extremely emotionally exhausting especially when you haven't even started on your medication yet. You should follow your instincts to know when you feel ready to do that. It's not always easy to find a counsellor who you click with either.
