Hi Kelly,
Yes I'd definitely go back, you don't need to be suffering.
I take 300mg of gabapentine the times a day on top of paracetamol and ibuprofen(also three times a day). I also take zomorph twice a day and have oramorph for when I need it.
However, I do also have degenerative disc disease so you probably wouldn't be offered the morphine but I find the other three, as a combination, the best yet. I do take other meds too bur they're not necessarily pain meds.
Mention them to your doctor and see what he/she thinks.
Keep us posted on what happens. I hope you get something sorted.
Gentle hugs, Claire

Hi hun,
Have you ever been on gabapentin? I was on it but wanted to see if Prégabalin would be better. I'm on it three times a day and it's nowhere near as good as gabapentin. I'm also on dosulepin at night to help me get deeper sleep as a way to fight the fatigue.
Hope the pain clinic helps hun

I tried gabapentin and didn't like it to be honest it made me feel spaced out and I can't afford to be like that with a full time job and 3 children x

Yeah it does do that to you for a while. If you keep at it though it does wear off. I'm finding Prégabalin is doing that to me atm but is also not giving me anywhere near as much pain relief. I tried it as my partner suffers with arythromylalgea and recommended it to me. I guess it's all just trial and error though as everyone is different x

To be honest the pregabalin takes a few weeks to kick in but once it has it's really good x

I've been taking it for two months now and have gradually increased my dose but it's still not even taking much of the edge off the pain. I'm also having to take Oramorph more regularly since I went onto it.

Which pain management are you going to? I've done it three times and I'm going back to them again. There are two types. One teaches you techniques and coping strategies to deal with the pain, I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole!! Then there's the one that can offer you different treatments to help ease the pain, these are the ones I always go with. Through them I have had, physio, manipulation of joints, massage, acupuncture, epidural and facet joint injections. I'm going back to them now for more steroid injections in my lumbar spine for an area of inflammation.
They really are good if you can get your doctor/specialist to refer you to them. It can be difficult though. I've had symptoms for 11years now and was diagnosed 6 years ago and it's taken them this long to take me seriously and finally accept that I'm not playing on my symptoms. You just have to keep at them and play their game by going to all the places they refer you to. If each place doesn't help then they'll start looking into things more seriously.
Has anyone explained to you how important it is to change your lifestyle slightly to accommodate the syndrome? It took me ages to accept this but now I have I'm doing so much better. Unfortunately it will never be cured and the only person that can help you is yourself. Accepting this and changing things accordingly is key to living a happier, less stressful and painful life
Xx

Hi kirsty,
I wasn't aware that you could take tramadol alongside Prégabalin but that's brilliant. Do you find they work well together? What else have you been on?! I'm really struggling atm and have upped my dosage of Prégabalin as it's really quite low atm.
On top of fibro I am also lucky enough to have Degenerative Disc Disease which is the main source of my pain( it makes fibro pain feel like a walk in the park in comparison!!)
I might ask my doctor to put me on tramadol as well because I'm having to take too much Oramorph as and when throughout the day.
Gentle hugs

Hi Claire
it was my pain specialist who put me on all my medication my gp was awful they didn't help at all they just kept saying you will, have to wait an see pain specialist. I find they work together am not in as much pain nw as I have been ?.
Am on the highest dose of pregabalin buti did start off on a low dose but i upped it every week by 1 in the morn or 1 in eve.
I have only tried what I wrote since being diagnosed with fibroid. Before that I was using oralmorph like you but I found it didn't lastlong. I would ask ur gp about high in ur dose up on pregabalin.
If you don't mind me asking what is degenerative disc disease
Gentle hugs
kirsty Brady x
