I had to take 4 of one pill a day and 3 of the other.  So I took the 1st and last dose of both pills at the same time, and split the other 3 pills throughout the day.  I had no problems at all, apart from the usual side effects of the runs and feeling generally less than 100%.  So I wouldn't worry at all.

I'm sorry to say that for me it sometimes takes weeks or even months for the pain to go after a flare.  Don't know how long you've had your pain, I certainly remain in pain whilst taking the pills and for some time after.  I would go to A&E if the pain worsens or is unbearable, but I do take paracetemol as a pain killer.
