Medication

i am on 10mg bisoprol once a day. And 100mg flecanide twice a day. My pulse is always fine and my BP. Through the day I experience a weird feeling like my legs go to jelly and feel I need to take deep breaths. The feeling seems to be in my stomach. It usually happens when I am out walking my dogs. Just waiting results of a CT scan. Any one any ideas. Have had AF for 10 years had numerous cardioversion sand one ablation. May be having another cardioversion when CT results are through.

Jelly legs...I had the same problem whilst taking bisoprolol for 5 years...also the same problem when changed to atenolol. It felt like walking in treacle! I had other side effects including ...brain fog.. I’m off these beta blockers now. Weaning off wasn’t easy. I’m so much better now.

I get the feeling in my stomach and a sort of pulse or flickering too. This is usually after eating or walking. I push my stomach out and take deep breathes and it usually goes away.  The medication you are on is bound to have side effects. Breathlessness is a common side effect of bisoprolol.

I am only on 1.25mg daily and that's bad enough! I am waiting for an ablation.

    All the best

Hi Sarah, you are right about putting your stomach out. I think just keep walking and it will go away. And the deep breaths. I will wait for results of CT scan and see Specialist again. They are thinking about giving me another ablation. I can then cut down on the medication. Thanks again (abe a good night. X

Bisoprolol is a very strong drug and 10mgs may be too high.2.5mgs knocked me sideways. It sounds like you may be getting bradycardic. A holter will tell all, have a word with your GP or EP :-)

I have Paroxysmal AFib which I think is Vegas nerve related. I have read that Bisoprolol is not a good drug for vagal nerve A-fibbers.

Originally, I was on 2.5 bisop which had to be reduced to 1.25. Still had zombie issues and after 3 months or so, changed to Verapamil. Coped much better with that. Have now stopped all meds as was still feeling rough most of the time, but due to the meds not the PAF. Still get episodes, but only now feel crook with episode and nit the meds. Used to have a dull headache on bisop most of the time, and was wheezy too.
