I have been diagnosed with Fabriomyalgia now for well over 5 years, I try and cope a lot myself, there is so many different symptoms and I can get confused when to go to doctors or not, my doctors don't seem to acknowledge the situation and are even worse for helping with pain relief, they allow me 5 dyohydrocodeine per day, I have begged them for something else or to increase my dose, they refuse it's got so bad now that I've put a complaint into practice manager, I'm still waiting for reply. I'm at my wits end, the pain can be excruciating and making me question my very existence with this condition. Sorry for going on but I'm so desperate, any advise?

Hi Trisha, I think you should change doctors if you can. You need a doctor who is sensitive to your particular needs. Trust your gut when you feel devalued or dismissed in some way. We are all pretty intuitive. Have you been to some kind of pain management provision? I myself cannot give you advice on meds Trisha, sorry. But I feel for you girl! I hope some others on the forum can give you some input in that area. One of my best friends is a good old fashioned hot water bottle. I can hardly move in the mornings because of severe lower back pain. I apply the hot water bottle for about 15 mins and I can usually then begin my day. Heat has always been my comfort when it comes to pain. The stairs in my home is the most challenging for me since the back muscles are engaged. I hope you find some kind of relief soon sweetie. Hi Maggie, I had the same issues with my back in the mornings. But honestly you should see a chiropractor it’s the best thing I have done he has changed my life. My spine had severe misalignment That it was compromising my spinal cord which caused mobility issues and pain. I have had 6 weeks of treatment and now I can run up the stairs. He also advised a cold pack for my back as cold reduces inflammation which worked better than the heat pack might be helpful for you as well. They are cheap to buy from your chemist. X

Hi. Yes I have tried Chiropractors over the years but sadly, they have not been a help to me. They even have trouble realigning my lower back. They say it is as if it is seized. I am so glad to hear that it has helped you though Noahsnan. Any treatment that can give us relief is a blessing! I do see an Osteopath however, and he is more gentle in his approach. He also does ‘cupping’ which encourages the circulation and it helps me for sometime afterwards. It is just all the effort it takes me to get to him that puts me off. He is a very long drive away. Plus I guess I hate spending money on myself for these treatments. So kind of you to care and I am so happy that you have found a efficient therapist to help you. Warmest regards. Maggie
