Medication for a 19 year old

I have High functioning autism and quite severe ADHD, I was diagnosed at the age of 9, I have not been on any medication for it ever because my mum is really anti-ritalin. I have many issues that most people can do easily such as if there is a subject I don't like I will moan about it for hours until I don't have to do it, I can't read properly as I get bored very easily and not because of anything else like. I can also get very hyperactive and can cause a nuisance in many situations when its not appropriate and I can't concentrate a lot of the time.
Am I too old to get a Ritalin prescription or is there any other medication that can lessen the effects of ADHD.

No you are not too old for Ritalin which is prescribed for adults with ADHD aswell. If you do encounter a GP telling you that, make sure you consult another and get that referral as they are not qualified to treat, assess and diagnose someone with ADHD.
