Medication for vlp high up in the vagina?
Posted , 7 users are following.
I've had a vulval lichen planus flare-up for the past two weeks and am using Dermovate daily. I've now noticed that the inflammation seems to be further up the vagina, not just on the vulva, as previously. I'm treating the area I can see, but don't know if it's also higher up the vagina. If I see the GP, is there medication which can be used in this area? So, so fed up!

My gyncologist gave me Prenisolone 20mg Rectal Foam for lichen planus in the vagina. I used it once and nearly hit the roof! The burning, stinging & pain was awful. Is that the one you were given to use leanne60647? I do not see her again until 7th September and do not know what to use now. No point in going to doctor as she does not know anything about Lichen Planus or Sclerosus!

I don't think vlp goes into vagina but it damages/shrinks the entrance so I am unable to have intercourse since I had it over two years ago ! Defo go back to doctors . I'm using lidocaine numbing ointment to try to calm down the nerve damage so that one day I can get back to normal !! My name is Mary not bloody Virgin Mary !!!!! Xxx

Thank you for your replies. I did wonder if it went right inside the vagina, Mary, or only at the entrance, which is far enough, anyway! It only mentions the entrance in the information on here about lichen planus. I do hope the lidocaine works for you and things soon return to normal. That foam sounds good, Leanne, I'll have to ask my doctor about that.
Thanks again.

It's so good to be able to help each other on this forum ! Luckily I have a wonderful partner who is very understanding of how awful this LP has been for me (and him) I am so grateful to him ! I wish all of us a proper cure one day xxx

I feel your pain my dear I had vlp for a long time it took nine months on steroid cream to finally get it gone but the skin was left so sensitive I couldn't do it for two years !! We finally managed a gentle one this week happy days !!!! Keep positive you may heal quicker. Do not let stress rule your life it's what causes LP half the time !! Xx
