Medication for vlp high up in the vagina?

Posted , 7 users are following.

I've had a vulval lichen planus  flare-up for the past two weeks and am using Dermovate daily.  I've now noticed that the inflammation seems to be further up the vagina, not just on the vulva, as previously.    I'm treating the area I can see, but don't know if it's also higher up the vagina.  If I see the GP, is there medication which can be used in this area?  So, so fed up!

Hi Cheetah,  My specialist recommended coli foam, which is marketed as an anal suppository. It got into all the nooks and crannies much better than clobetasol,  and the next gynae I saw was astounded at the improvement in my vulva and vagina . hope you find something that works for you. I did change what I ate which I do think has had some impact on the situatiion/ good luck

My gyncologist gave me Prenisolone 20mg Rectal Foam for lichen planus in the vagina. I used it once and nearly hit the roof! The burning, stinging & pain was awful. Is that the one you were given to use leanne60647? I do not see her again until 7th September and do not know what to use now. No point in going to doctor as she does not know anything about Lichen Planus or Sclerosus!

I don't think vlp goes into vagina but it damages/shrinks the entrance so I am unable to have intercourse since I had it over two years ago ! Defo go back to doctors . I'm using lidocaine numbing ointment to try to calm down the nerve damage so that one day I can get back to normal !! My name is Mary not bloody Virgin Mary !!!!! Xxx

Hi, VLP can go into the vagina, i have it up around my cervix. my gynae tells me I will eventually need to get surgery to separate the wall of the vagina from my cervix as they are erodoing and growing together.

Thank you for your replies.  I did wonder if it went right inside the vagina, Mary, or only at the entrance, which is far enough, anyway!  It only mentions the entrance in the information on here about lichen planus.  I do hope the lidocaine works for you and things soon return to normal.  That foam sounds good, Leanne, I'll have to ask my doctor about that.

    Thanks again.

I was diagnosed with LP of vulva just today after dealing with this for almost 2 years and unable to have intercourse for the past year . Glad to finally know why but don’t know if this is really going to get better by everything I read. I will pick up my Clobetasol ointment prescription tomorrow . Anyone try this and does it work?

Is there hope for my hubby and I to have intercourse ever again?
