Medication Overuse Headache and Alcohol

I've always been prone to headaches, but never migraines so I took ibuprofen regularly. Back in the Spring, I had an injury which caused me to take more than my normal amount of ibuprofen. After several weeks of a round the clock headache, I was treated for sinus infection for 10 days with no improvement. After doing some research, I figured out I was having MOH. I cut out all medicine and relied on ice packs to get me through my days. Around 3 weeks later, the headache cleared and I've been headache and ibuprofen free for several months. I'm not a regular drinker, but I like to have a few drinks with my husband or friends on occasion. Both times I've tried, I have ended up with a 2 day headache afterward that feels just like the medication overuse headache. First time, I had 3 oz of vodka in flavored water over the course of several hours, and thought the headache was a fluke. Second time, I have 3.5 oz of vodka over the course of 6 hours with a meal in the middle. Normally, I would not feel anything the next day from this amount of alcohol. I'm convinced it is related to the MOH.

Has anyone ever experienced this? Any tips or tricks? Will I ever be able to have a drink again?
