    Hi there,

There are lots of different medications out there used to treat HS, but how well they work depends on the person. I've tried cyclosporin, clindomycin, Accutane, erythromycin, humira and infliximab to name a few, but I appear to have a stubborn body that hasn't responded to anything so far. However I have heard of success stories with all of these treatments.

It's just trial and error unfortunately, mainly down to the lack of research into HS.

Also, don't be surprised if your dermatologist tries to blame it on your weight or lifestyle (no matter what your size is!). They all seem to go down that route at first!!

Good luck at your appointment x

      Thanks for the reply,

For what i have read on varies support boards i am learning that meds are a hit or miss depending on the person. Ive been prescribed various antibiotics that never work just made me sick plus I'm allergic to clindomycin.

I have been told by 2 dermatologist that my weight is an issue but even with losing weight my hs hasnt even gotten little better.

This struggle and pain is annoying

I was told the same about my weight, but when I first started suffering from HS I had just recovered from a long and nasty bout of glandular fever and at 5 ft 5 my weight had plummeted to 6 stone! I'm bigger than that now however.

Allergies are a nightmare with HS. I also have fibromyalgia, and I'm allergic to steroids, so available treatment for both is very limited.

If you don't mind me asking where is your HS? Mine is all over really but is worst on my inner thighs.

I have in both armpits but mainly in my left armpit. Currently my left arm has open wounds and is constantly draining. I also get it in my groin and sometimes I'll get one in my thighs. Those are the ones that will normally drain and heal within 3 weeks and i wont get another one for months later.

Im seeing an internist for autoimmune disease bc she thinks my HS is linked to that and ive been put on a gluten free diet and givent supplements to fix my gut. Ive been on these supplements for the last 5/6mos and honestly my hs has gotten worse

Zinc Picolinate!  I have been in remission for several years now and scars have faded.  I had HS for 30 years.  I started with 44mg  twice a day and then tapered off to 44mg 1x per day.  It is the ONLY thing that's had a lasting result.  Take some copper with it as it can deplete copper.  My physician even asked me what I was doing as they had never seen such amazing results.  Good luck!  It really works for me.
