Hi Paula
You are on 2 anti-depressants and another drug as well. Methotrixate is primarily used for certain Cancers and Auto-immune diseases. Sertraline is a much used anti-dep and some patients find it very good in easing anxiety and depression. Amitriptyline is a very old drug, again an anti-dep but some say a useful aid to sleep and help with bad headaches and pain generally. Quite a mix really. Maybe you should talk to your GP about the reason for each drug and why he/she thinks it is a good mix to help with whatever problems you have. Perhaps an explanation will ease your mind but if not talk about perhaps coming off one of them carefully. There are side effects to each of them and it really is your choice as to whether you really 'need' all 3 of them. Hope you get things sorted Paula.

Hi Paula
I would read the patient leaflets that come with all the meds, to check for interractions and side effects. This is something I wish I had done originally when I was on a cocktail of meds. At least if you do get any side effects you can take the patient leaflet in and say this is happening to you without the doctor thinking you have something else, which has been my experience.

If I were you I'd check about coming off Sertraline. My reason for saying this as I found it a very useful drug for anxiety which happens with AS and other illnesses too. I was taking Amitryptaline together with Sertraline for years until I spoke to my neurologist who advised to wean off the Ami rather than the Sertraline. Since then we have found a much better combination. Talk to your doctor and ask their advice before you tackle any weaning off...it's not easy to just come off a drug there are severe side effects. Hurry slowly lol
