Medium to large skin tag

I have a very unsightly skin tag on my cheek that I really want to get rid of but can't afford surgery to have it removed since my insurance considers it cosmetic surgery. Is it possible to tie a piece of thin, unwaxed dental floss around it and hope that it falls off after a few days?

Thanks

If it is on a "stalk" and it is soft and you are sure it is just a skin tag ie hasnt changed in shape/colour/texture for years then yes that is a good way to remove it.If its not on a stalk or is a cutaneous horn then leave it to the professionals.

Thanks...It did have a 'stem' that I was worried was too wide , but, I went ahead and tied it off with unwaxed dental floss and over the course of 5 days , it turned black and I woke up two days ago , rubbed it gently, and it fell off! SO pleased! I am keeping it on the sink for a few days to lord over it, and show it that 'I won' hahaha....

Most skin tags are tiny, typically smaller than 2 millimeters in size. Some can grow as large as several centimeters. Skin tags are soft to the touch
