Melatonin... Another useless, ineffective scam

Recently purchased some 'high quality melatonin'.. Improve your sleep it says...

Lies. Don't bother wasting your money like I have, in fact do not buy any legal sleep aid as thet are all a waste of f*****g time!!!

P.S. Your doctor can help you, but the law in UK says they can't. Guess I just have to learn to live with this life ruining illness and never have a wife, family and all the simple things I wanted out of life.

One more thing. This new doctor said it was ridiculous that the last GP had given me sertraline, knowing fine well it disrupts sleep. He also commented negatively on the fact that I'd been on Amytripaline for so long previously..

This is just an example of how bad GPs are in the UK. Their patients are used as guinea pigs in most cases and a lot of them contradict or disagree with each other in my experience. How are you meant to know who is giving you the correct advice/medication when the doctor yoyr seeing now has totally different opinions to the last one?? Crazy...

Thank you Michelle. And certainly I will keep you posted.

I have 28 capsules to start with, I'm hoping 50mg will be enough so I don't have to start taking 2 right away.

Yeah that's so true Lee, they all have their different idea's. There seems a need for some sort of standard.

At one point I had to keep arguing with them about the fact that they kept adding in more and more things without taking me off the previous one.

I decided to come off everything for 3 months and to be honest my sleep was no different taking the Meds or not.

There was talk at one point of some new sleep med that was being developed which would not be addictive, that was about 4 years ago and I've heard nothing about it since.

Well. I've slept for 9 hours the last two nights but it's a weekend and I was tired as hell from doing night shift all week (and not sleeping..)

I took 50mg of Trazadone and 5mg Melatonin last night. To be totally honest I didn't feel any more tired then I was but I don't normally need medication on a weekend. However I do feel a little drowsy right now, I woke up about 30 mins ago..

Tonight and through the week will be the real test. If it is ineffective I'll try upping it to 100mg, if that doesn't work I'll stop taking it altogether and go back to my GP for a referral.

A little tip for anyone having trouble getting medication from your doctor: If you are given some medication that doesn't work, don't keep taking it out of desperation. Make an appointment and take the remaining meds with you. This will show that you haven't just swallowed them all (like some will) and that you really are just looking for a solution and not just meds to abuse.

    Lee.

Good thinking in that last para, Lee! I hope you continue to get some effect from the new regime.
