Memory, concentration and headaches?

Yet another question about people’s experiences with this medication! I’m 8 and half weeks on 50mgs and it’s been long weeks. I’m seeing improvement on some days and very slowly the bad days are becoming a little less bad. Even on the days when i’m more like my normal self my memory is bad though and I find concentration hard going. The bad days are terrible for this and I have headaches as well.

Has anyone else experienced this and if so does it go away over time? I have a job where I work on a computer all day and have to concentrate. There’s no way I could do it at the moment so i’m concerned about if it’s side effects and not going to go away ☺️

Side effects from this drug are very varied and hard to handle. To be honest it sounds like you need to increase. I have gone back to work after being off for nearly 8 months. I felt awful alot of the time until I hit 150mg. Wow!...huge improvement. Please please ride it out. 50mg is pretty low ..although some people only need that amount. Sounds like you need to increase ..speak to your doctor. Take paracetamol if you have a headache ..no ibuprophen..drink loads of water.

Keep reading and posting....get checked for vit D deficiency..worth checking

    Good luck

Thanks I do want to get checked out as well to see if I am deficient in anything.  The side effects have just been so bad going on it this time and it seems so slow it’s hard to then think you should increase it ☺️ x

I have moments of confusion sometimes as well. especially when it's noisy at work. People think I'm ignoring them or am antisocial, but I'm really just concentrating on what I'm doing.

Incidentally, 50mg was hell for me, as was 75mg. I'm now on 125mg for almost 3 weeks and feeling so much better.

I went to hell and back many times until I increased to 150mg. I now feel 99% me again. I can fully understand people quitting but I'm so glad I carried on increasing.

Hi i have only just joined about 3hrs ago and wanted to know about this drug myself , as i have been suffering some of the same effects much much worse, as you see i suffer migraines, , i have been on sertraline for 3 weeks at first 50mg now on 100mg, but my migraines are uncontrollably, i thought it was to do with the weather till my parther put 2 and 2 together and realised they got worse around the same time as the pills, but i have been reading a lot of posts and not sure what to to as i have depression, and a whole lot more, do you have a good doctor you can talk to or a councillor, they can help in cognitive therapy which is great for depression and especially when your in the job your in they deal with that too

To be honest the headaches have been one of the lesser side effects and like you say they’ve not been as bad as yours. I’m taking it for anxiety, my doctor is nice but I don’t think that experienced and i’m on a waiting list for counselling.

If you take any other medication it may be interacting? Also I’ve found that it makes you worse at first with all the things you’ve been suffering before but if you can you push through that at some point it should work for you. I’d see somebody though as that sounds agony ☺️

It really does end up being an agonising decision but you just have to do what you feel is right for you when you have the more rational moments. I’m going to change my diet as well as it’s really something I should have tried first but I was just desperate to be better quickly! ☺️
