Memory foam post-op, yes or no?

Hi folks

Just five days to go to op day of 5th October and I am getting things ready for when I come home afterwards.

I decided to go into the spare room for a few weeks so as me and the hubs do not disturb each other.  Was making the bed up and wondered whether I should leave the nemory foam topper on. It is quite a thick one and the mattress underneath is pretty firm.

What is best?  Can anyone share their experience either way re comfort?  Anything else I should know other than using a slippy sheet and lots of pillows ?  It is a double bed and we have moved it so I can get in an out either side.

Oh and I dont have a frame so just on crutches.. Does it help getting in and put if I have something to help me stand?

Thanks in advance. X

I just wore long baggy pajama pnats and I hauled my leg up by grabbing hold of the pajama pants.

Clip your toenails, it is going to be a while before you can reach them again. biggrin  Just be very careful doing it as you wouldn't want to go to deep and get an infection.

      Thanks Patricia.

Two boxes ticked, hair and pedicure. Eyebrows threaded as well smile

I normally  shave rather than wax as have very little growth but I believe shaving is a no-no before surgery.  Been wondering about that.

Tomorrow is the big day so best make a decision one way or the other wink

thanks again fir the suggestions.  X

Hi, Kristin! My name is Kristin! 😄 I had a 4inch memory foam on my bed. I sat on the edge, pre-op, to see how it felt. I'm pretty tall, 5'10", & thought I could manage okay. Well, not a good idea, my test run led to me sliding towards the floor, I couldn't imagine a weak hip on that edge. Bad combination! So, I removed it & I think it was the wise decision. I'm 13 days out & I feel really safe without it. I do look forward to putting it back on! My fibromyalgia & muscular disease are not making it easy laying here without my cushy foam.

My my best to you tomorrow on your surgery!!

      Hi back Kristin smile

I have left my MF on for now but my husband says he can take it off in a minute if I feel it hinders.  The mattress underneath is pretty hard and tgough I like a firm mattress I di like a bit if loft kn on the top.  I will find out very soon.

Now worrying about other things like if my yoga type pants for the hospital aren't baggy enough...  the brain needs to be occupied lol,

take care. I will post updates from my hospital bed.

      hug x

    Hi Kristin,

I have been thinking about you all week.

Early days I know but how are you?

Have you got your phone/ipad in hospital?

    How did the op go?

Have you got all the stuff you need?

    Hugs,
