Memory loss

Hi everyone,

I've not been on here for a while due to mental health issues so please forgive me.

I wasn't wondering if anyone else has these little moments of memory loss?

Eg. Walking up/down stairs and completely forget what to do and totally freeze.

Or seeing photos of people and not being able to recognise the person in real life.

Anyway hope you are all doing OK

Krissy

      Hi Carla,

I'm sorry to hear that hun. I don't seem to get those big freak outs anymore.

The not recognising people is worrying me the most I just can't seem to see that the person in front of me is the one in the picture???

    Hi krissy,

Yes, only saying about my poor memory today. I'm lucky, in a way, that I have a friend who also has this condition. We can both laugh about it sometimes. I find I loose words halfway through a sentence mostly. Can't remember when I've already said something, forget dates for things. Can't think about things quickly. Names for people I've known a long time sometimes evade me. All very disturbing but, try not to worry too much and to Think of it as your brain working on auto pilot.

    Best wishes

    Hi

I have short term memory issues and after a bad relapse I can have what I call black holes in my memory e.g I watched a film when I was last bad with M.E and can't remember watching it. Each time it comes on TV I say to my other half "Oh let's watch that" but my OH insists I've seen it. I start watching it and some bits are familiar whilst others seem completely new to me. I've done this with the same film 3 times. I'm still ok recognising people - but names do go as do words in conversations.

Hope that helps in a strange way!! 😉

      Hi mazpaz,

I do that all the time and ask what's happening in soaps and dramas because I can't remember the bits I've just watched, drives my hubby bonkers lol (in a light hearted way, he's Def a good egg!)

The things we have to put up with!

I can't believe there isn't more research this beast completely wrecks lives.

I'm so frustrated with it all. I've given up reading books as I can't remember what I've read several days before and have to start again.

Lives are being completely destroyed and affected in such severe ways but no one seems to care or really get what it's like for us. I start work again Monday after being off for 3 months and I'm dreading it because I go back into a workplace where no one gets it.

Wow well done you for being able to go back to work! It is so hard to get people to understand, my sister thinks I just need to exercise and stop eating carbs! I wish that was the magic cure!!! I am house bound, only go out for appointments. I literally watch life carry on around me.

Who knows if I stay there but I will try my hardest. I'm so sorry you are housebound ..

and yet it's not deemed to be an important illness. There are times I could just hug people on here so sending you a virtual one!

Just a quick note cos it's 10pm and my brain sort of shuts down at 9pm every evening! Just to say I can identify with what you are both describing. My memory is variable and unpredictable and I often lose track of what I'm trying to say halfway through.
