Men with LS

What kind of DR would a man go to with LS?  Since it took me many Drs. to find one that had a clue of how to treat LS and my orig. gyno didn't even recognise it for years, I was wondering if my brothers might have it and who would treat them if so.  I had no luck in the past with dermotologists or GPs.  Only some gynos.  I'll bet men that get it have a really, really hard time with it.

    What a good question woozie!

You need a dermatologist who specialises in this.

Try online. Try ringing around til you find one.

Probably rare but there will be a few!

I think it all depends which country you are in and on the individual doctor.  I am in UK.  My original gynaecologist was wonderful and, every time I went for a check up, he would examine me, including the areas on my upper back, and record it in my notes.  However, he moved away and the senior gynaecologist has made it quite clear to me that he has no interest in the LS on my back and only deals with "down there"!  I have to see a dermatologist for LS and LP elsewhere on my body.  I think it is the luck of the draw as to whether you get a knowledgeable and helpful doctor.  Good luck!

Welcome to the forum. This is the first time I have seen a message from a male with LS. Not saying there hasn't been one, just I haven't seen one. This is a disease that not many know anything about. Women suffer too. and have been misdiagnosed (me included) for years. Perhaps you have come to the right place to find information. You may encourage more men to write about it.

I can only tell you that it took years for me to get help and only then by sheer luck. Have you been prescribed anything for it? Clobetasol works for me, but it has to be prescribed.

We have to do our own research, obviously. I educated myself through the Internet and then found help from both a gynecologist and a dermatologist. Hope that you gather enough information on here to get the help you need.

    Good luck.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.  I m a woman.  I worry about my brothers having it since I know now that it is familiar.  If my sisters have a one in 3 chance of having it, then my brothers may as well.  That was what got me wondering about what kind of Dr would treat a man.

I see a Doctor in Genoa, Italy (Dr Francesco Casabona) and I know he has both male and female patients.
