Men with LS

I saw my brother recently, he has been grumpy and short tempered for years. I know he had an opeartion about 10 years ago because he couldn't poo properly,( he's known as a tight arse! Lol.)
he was saying he was really uncomfortably and itchy and thought he might need another op...... I suggested he might have LS as i have it, i gave im some emu oil. But it stung, he tried the borax, but slow going, and then the clobestomol ointment we had ordered for him, arrived. He's been using it for a week, i just got a text from him, says its the best he has felt in years and the soreness and itching are practically gone.
he saw his doctor before he started the ointment, doc says there is a lot if scarring but he doubts it could be Ls. And sent my brother away with no treatment, or diagnosis.
duh?
I think its responded to treatment, he has been treated for scarring before and has new scarring.... Where do we go from here? How common is it in men? I got through 2 gynaecologists, and two dermatologists before getting a proper diagnosis.
thanks.....

It definitely happens in men too, though for men, it's sometimes called balanitis xerotica obliterans or BXO. It's difficult to say what he might have without a picture though.

Yes, i appreciate this, but my brother says he s definitely not showing his behind to his older sister..... :-). So i have to just steer him in some sort of direction, Apparantly the ointment. ( which was clobestomol and cost £18) is the only treatment he has ever had, apart from an op and suffering for over 10 years. Will have a read up of the BXO.
Thanks. X

If it's his behind causing the problem, then it might still be lichen sclerosus, but it won't be BXO (as that affects the penis). If he's already had an operation for it, then I'd try to steer him back to another doctor for a second opinion.
