Meniere's Disease "The Monster in my Head"

Just wanted to post about the workings of a Meniere's patients head
Tinnitus in one or both ears
Everything sounds muffled
Constant pressure (even after tube surgery)
Anxiety caused by the fear of the next attack
Poor communication skills (can't hear can't think straight)
Memory Loss
Vision issues
Vertigo spinning out of control
Depression, Can't do what you want or used to do)
Avoiding Social interaction (again can't hear or process what is said)
Meniere's is a ghost (no one can see or your problem)
Chronic Dizziness ( feeling like a drunken Sailor)
Nausea (nothing smells or sounds good)
Stomach upset (again nausea for motion sickness)
Loss of Balance (not being able to stand or walk straight)
Night Blindness ( your brain is busy processing incorrect information from your ears and your eyes are your balance now)
This is just a few things going on in a Meniere's patients head

This sums up the horrible symptoms of Menieres! If it's not one symptom it's another! It is truly an invisible illness, which makes it very lonely indeed. I was feeling very good for 2 months but now have a lot of ear pressure, tinnitus and increased brain fog and headaches which makes me want to hibernate. Balance not great either but no outright vertigo, which is a good thing. The fatigue is getting to me and I wish I could snap out of all this. I guess it will improve. I feel like I'm becoming a hermit sometimes. Nice that this forum exists for us sufferers! I hope you feel better real soon and I wish the same for everyone in 2018!

So true. Add in the fact that the symptoms don't stay constant/consistent so how can you prepare or even battle it effectively? Louise touched on the fatigue a little too. During a vertigo attack the fatigue is like no kind of tired you've ever felt before.
I treasure my good days.
I'm positive and always hopeful for new breakthroughs and I'm praying 2018 is great for everyone!

Yes, it's like chasing a shadow! Like you say, we must remain positive and hopeful. Xmas holidays can wreak havoc with diet and exercise, for me anyway. Happy and Healthy New Year!

I have experienced a ‘drop’ whilst hanging washing on the line. Head held backwards and just dropped, cracking my head on the concrete path. Landed up in A and E hospital and had the wound glued. Dr. couldn’t understand when I explained that this can happen with Menieres
