No, d, you need intervention to stop the bleeding. Your uterus is a little thick, the pills will help reduce it and stop the bleeding. I have clots too, but the concern on forming clots is when you've been taking the pills for a long time. I took the pills for 1 year with no side effects. When it comes to my health I have to trust the doctors, I would suggest you do too. Best of luck.

Yes, I had this pill about a year ago when I experienced heavy bleeding that would not stop. It did the job, and stopped the bleeding, which had made me anaemic. My bleeding was related to entering the menopause. After that I had a few more periods for a year, which were light and spaced out, until I eventually stopped periods at age 51.

    Best wishes.

This was my doctor's fear also, but luckily I didn't develop it. Did you go on pills for the anemia also?

Yes, they checked my iron levels and I was prescribed iron tablets, which stabilised things. At my worst, during this phase I felt like just putting my head down on my desk at work and sleeping, so it was a great feeling when all this was sorted with the medication. Good luck.

I've been on them since June 2015, I was having a break every month then every 3 month . But after seeing my consultant in May I've been able to stay on them without any break. I've not had any bad side effects just felt great on them so far. My consultant wanted me to have coil or ablation but I didn't want that.

dr told me to take them for three weeks then stop for a week then go gp get some more so must have to keep taking them till i go back to hospital in three months. i just worry about blood clots and iv read about weight gain bloating and headachs in people  have any of ypu suffered with bloating or anythink from them as i. already feeling bloated and full of wind anyways.i am bleeding more this week also could it be that my bodys tryi g to get rid of the lining itself and itl carm down on its own as last week i got a real bad headach one day then next i bleeded heavyer like a proper period and iv had period pains all week, i dont know weather to see if it stops soon or just go a head and take them. i do worry about clots the most my died died from a stroke from a blood clot and i had one after an op after c sec.

does this pill cause cloting to stop the bleeding i dont k ow i dont want to bleed for ever and does anyone suffer ibs and taking this pill made it worse?

I had to do the 3 weeks then week break the hosp said I could do 12 weeks then a week break then after I'd had hysteriscopy and everthing was ok he and I'd told him I really didnt want coil he said I could stay on them without any breaks.

Since being in the tablets u haven't had hardly any problems with my ibs, I don't get sore boobs, the nausea I was getting has more or less stopped and so have the hot flushes . I don't get the mood swings. I've had a couple of headaches but I wouldn't necessarily put it down to the tablets with the muggy weather and life stresses. I still get wind if I eat certain foods mainly if I eat lots of sweet things but I wouldn't say j feel bloated. So while it's working for me I will stay on them

I do worry what will happen when j come off them . You should notice the bleeding easing very quickly . If your worried about clots then you need to speak to your doctor and hopefully they will ease your worries. Let me know how you get on x

It's a hormone pill that works on the endocrine level not on the gastrointestinal level.

I had a ruptured blood clot too, like I said it would only happen if you take it for a long time, not for a few weeks.

The pill will stop the bleeding and reduce the thick lining of your uterus.

Hi d. I'm  a bit surprised they've given you noresthisterone for such a long period of time. personally if i was in your shoes, i'd see my doctor & ask shouldn't the gynae have suggested an endometrial ablation if you've had hysteroscopy & biopsies were ok. as you have such a thickened womb lining, that's probably causing the endless heavy bleeding. I'm surprised your gynae didn't suggest it to help your ongoing symptoms to reduce or stop the heavy bleeding. taking pills for 6mths doesnt really seem to be the answer to getting rid/shedding your thickened lining. its worth making an appt with your doctor to discuss & see what their opinion is. x

Hi looloo I think it's me not d that you might be referring to . It was the consultant at the hosp that said I could continue them. He offered me the coil or ablation but I don't want either of them so he said I would be OK to continue in the tablets. The dose of prostegen is just a lot higher with the tablets than the coil as it had to go through your stomach. If I start to get any problems then I an change my mind at any time and he will do the coil or ablation. He said as I was almost 50 and the average age of menopause is 51.4! He would just check my hormone levels next time he sees me.

Hi pudds. I did mean this  for d, but I've just realised i misunderstood her original post  - i though she'd been on noristhisterone for 6 mths but i think she means she's been bleeding for 6mths. so sorry, but yes my reply could reply to you as you have been on it for a long time x

hi well just taken my third pill and bleeding is alot less at this moment in time, but did flood allday and bled through vlothes wile out yesterday and today gosh felt a fool  for sure hope noone noticed as i didnt till id got to toilet.

anyways, i read some one saying only take this pill for two days of three times a day dont know who said it but did she mean then take it less like two times a day or somthing or just stop altogether?

dont know if it was this post or another one.

    i. such a pain but i cant understand how it will help my lining get thiner if its stoping me from bleeding it all out. id have thought my lining would get even thicker if its not bleeding away. as i was flooding now im not cant understand it at all how it works. hope it doesn't make my lining even worse.

should i take the pill every day at three times a day for the next three weeks like dr said or should i stop taking it after that see what happens.

or should i take it at three times a day till i know my bleeding has defiantly stoped then take two a day i dont know gosh. il have to go see go wont i next week well thats if i can even get in next week.

well hope my bleeding has stoped tomorrow going seaside for bank holiday monday. fingers crossed il feel better and not show myself up by bleeding everywere and for all to see i mean today i had a tampax supper plus and a good pad on and it still cam out alover my clothes flipin thing and i didnt realise as im also sweating like a pig down there so fed up

You are not a doctor, neither is anyone here. You should take it as directed to get the most out of the medication is suppose to do. If you have concerns about the medication you should always consult a doctor or a pharmacist.
