Menopause at 33.....

Evening all,
really looking for some advice and support. From the age of 25 I decided to go on the depot injection, thinking this was a great option for me as I was very career oriented. After 4 years I decided that I needed to come off it and give my body a break. After 4 years of little to no periods I decided it was time to find out what the problem was..... I have suffered bad bouts of depression so I just put my symptoms down to that. I moved abroad to escape the stress and to start a new chapter in my life. I went to see a gynaecologist and had a full exam and bloods done. The internal scan showed small ovaries and very thin lining of the uterus and there are my bloods.
free T4 1.02
FSH 95.04
LH. 18.23
Estradiol 10
prolactin 96.46
TSH. 1.75
since ce I have no periods I was unable to have the test on day three of my cycle.
Is is it safe to say that I am menopausal?
Having the sweats although I do live in a hot country so it's hard to say if it is from the heat or not.
Did the depot injection cause this?
Am I depressed in general or am I feeling like this because I'm menopausal?
i am totally confused and am really looking for some advice and guidance..........
A xx

My gynaecologist has put me on Yasmin tablets. This was before he had my blood results. I’ve been told to go back after I have finished the cycle in the hope I may have a period. I’m not very hopeful to be honest. The results are European.

Gotcha, I am not familiar with Yasmine...I think we have Yaz here...probably the same thing...is that a combo birth control...meaning both estrogen and progesterone? Another thing you could have is POF...premature ovarian failure. That would be an explanation for the high FSH level. Anything over 10...your ovaries are quitting. That number rises the closer you get to meno...93...wow! That can send you into premature meno. Then, I would be curious about the depo shot theory. Of course drs won’t say it’s that. Sorry that you have to deal with this so young. I hope the BCP will get your cycle going. Hugs to you🤗

I’m hoping that Yasmine will help me also. I’m guessing if it doesn’t then it would be HRT next.

It is not my intention reprimanding you but it sounds weird to me.
I would afraid of doing that to myself . It seems a quite permanent decision.
And you were only 25 years old, what kind of doctor agreed to that without any serious reason?
I hope the damage on your ovaries to be reversible

I probably didnt word it right. I always had problems with my cycle and at the time I went to see my GP who suggested the injection. Stupid me didn’t do enough research and because I had no periods to worry about about I was naive and didn’t think of the consequences it would cause later on in life. The gynaecologist here was not happy when I told him. He too said why the hell they would allow me to have the injections for such a long time.,,, hysight is a wonderful thing ☹️

Do you think it’s possible for me to reverse menopause? Or is it too late now?

Hi Andrea,
Gosh, I'm so sorry to hear of all your misfortunes. This is terrible. I'm not an expert but I can't help but think that it was the depo shot that threw everything off. Didn't you say that you were having menstrual problems to begin with? They should have tested your blood work before they began administering the shots. Then you would know that it was the shots that caused these numbers. I hope everything gets sorted out for you. Let us know how you get on with things. Hugs to you, dear.
