Menopause at 42, Is this normal???

Hi,

I've been having symptoms of possibly heading towards the menopause.

My first symptom is my menstrual cycle, it's never been overly heavy but it's been regular.

Recently though it has started with a few spots of dark blood and then the normal bright red blood but it doesn't last long and just when I think it's finished it comes back again.

Vaginal dryness is also noticeable, I am a single woman but I still have needs and everything always seems 'dry'??

Weight gain also but then I'm trying to blame Xmas for that one, headaches like you wouldn't believe and tired all the time.

Can these be signs of early menopause????

Virtually anything can be due to menopause including how you feel but best to get properly checked over first. Doctors rule out other things first. Go get some bloods taken and your thyroid and hormones checked. Lots of herbal things you can try to help you if is the Menopause.

Hi ladies, I'm 42, I had my daughter 3 years ago.  My periods have been inconsistent for about a year now, I'll skip a month sometimes, they are lighter, I have been having worsening pms.  Some breast tenderness and pain prompted a mammogram and additional tests.  The mammogram turned up a begnin fiberious lump, but the blood tests said my FSH level is at 36.  My gyno just called me this week and told me that due to this that I'm in the late stages of perimenopause.  I went online to see what this meant for me and come across all this stuff about being at a 40% higher risk of heart disease, osteoporosis and an overall higher mortality rate because I'm in the 40-45 age group.

I'm scared to death and depressed because I feel like I've been given an early death sentence with this. My daughter is just 3 and there's so much I want to do with her and teach her and be a part of in her life.  Right now, I can't even sit and play with her because I just break down into tears.  My husbands a great man and father, but there's just things I know he wont do that I would do for/with  her.

I'm looking for some hope out there.

      Hi there,

I spent the last 3 months going crazy. It all started mainly with heart palpitations, broke out in a cold sweat, and almost passed out.

4 ER visits, numerous tests done by cardiologist and PCP done in March and April, basically I'm healthy. PCP did FSH test back in March, it was 17. Was told these symptoms were anxiety, tried me on Lexapro. Never again. Those pills GAVE me anxiety among other horrible side effects.

Now that I knew what they were I went back to PCP and started throwing a fit. I don't feel right, let's fix me!

She refers me to a GI and endocrinologist. GI scheduled me in for emergency colonoscopy and endoscopy the following day, thought I may have had Crohns disease but blood work came back negative. Looks like ulcerative colitis. The CT Enterography they did last week showed polystic cysts.... Not sure of final results until this Friday.

Endocrinologist did blood work last week and both my FSH (32.5) and LH were high, post menopause stages, but my estradiol/estrogen was within normal range so I'm now officially perimenopausal. Sigh...

My biggest symptom that I'm terrified of are the heart palpitations. I didn't see anyone else mentioning this as a symptom. Anyone else feel these constantly every day???
