Menopause at 46

Hi. For the last 3 years I have had night sweats and little sleep but was still having every other period and nothing else. In the last 6 months I suddenly have a stone extra in weight around my belly, a sore lower area, right inside which burns. My lips ( Lower) tear like crepe paper and chaff when I exercise and the headaches are intense. Im about to do an Estrogen test. Anyone else had these or similar at my age?

    Hi Sarah

I'm 50 and been having night sweats for quite a few years now. I also put on weight and started getting terrible headaches probably from my early 40s I would say. Then every 6 months some new symptom or other would crop up, like joint pain, acne, dry skin, you name it, I've probably had it. My latest thing is discomfort down below and I think this is the worst thing I've had to deal with. I am trying a local estrogen cream and not getting great results so far, so will be back at the doctors in the new year. Have you seen a doctor yet? I hope you get the help you need x

Hi... give the estrogen cream time to work. It can take weeks to months to work and see results. It took me several months of vigilant usage to get it straightened out. I've been on it 2 yrs now and down to only 2x a week, and I'm back to as normal as possible for this insane stage of life.

hi, thanks for that, I was beginning to give up hope. Have been using it for 9 weeks now, although I do have to miss some weeks as get my period every 24 days or so. This is def the worst symptom I've had, so pleased to hear you've been able to get some relief!

Wow. Exactly the same as me...Its a total b***h isnt it. I just got married for the first time too...The discomfort is the worst thing you are right. With Covid doctors arent doing appointments. I have been using Dr Wolffs Vagisan protective ointment. It works really well but things arent still quite right. Im so glad Im not the only one. Im sure we will all get through this and I hope you feel better too soon x

I had a hysto but kept my ovaries in my early 30s, I'm almost 53 so no periods to deal with but also no "mile stones" like missing periods to judge where I am in meno. Technically I'm post meno bc of no periods but I've got every symptom and then some. When you're on your period instead of inserting it, try using a pea size amount and just smear it on your outer lady bits at night before bed. It'll at least keep that tissue happy and your urethra.
