menopause - end of my teather

i have eventually gone to my DR to have blood tests to find my hormone status. I've not had a period for 17mths and have had peri/menopause symptoms for at least 7 years . I'm 48 now and my night and day sweats are debilitating, i'm exhausted, dehydrated, with sore joints and dry skin. My moods are variable and my sex drive low ! So- my results show  ive low oestrogen and progesterone , my calcium levels low and my vit D levels high .

i have been a bit anti hrt and have used various herbal alternatives, but after long discussions with my DR have been prescribed Tibolone.

i was wondering if anyone has had any experience of taking this drug .... good or bad and if you have any recommendations.

i want to feel like  a new woman !!!! Thanks in advance xx

I tried every natural remidy out there, It did not work I have not had a period in 4 years. I had heart palpitations, deliberating hot flashes, mood swings depression low sex drive. I went on the estrogen patch and progestin after having very low levels in blood test. Also taking rx for vitamin d since I tested low.. I am seeing some changes and it is helping me. I never tried the med you mentioned. Good luck!

Hi Luciekcr I’ve been on tibolone for about 2 years, it’s helped a bit with some symptoms but not them all. I have a history of ME type symptoms so I think this has flared up during peri.

I tried several hrts before settling on this one, they all caused bleeding and worsening of migraine. I’ve had no bleeding for approx 8-9 months so the migraines have settled

I don’t suffer from hot flushes, never have, haven’t lost libido some drs say tibolone is great if you have low sex drive, however, I have aching joints, neck pain, calve pain particularly in the morning, left arm pain, all pain worse in the mornings. I also suffer from poor balance and dizziness

I intend staying on the tibolone for the forceeable as I was a mess a couple of years ago before taking it. The anxiety and depression was terrible, now I feel quite happy most of the time

I’m a bit short of time tonight but I’d be happy to discuss the hrt more another time

I’d try it if I were you, it could give you a better quality of life.

    Good luck xx

Good day luciekcr, from my experience it is the BEST drug I have ever taken. I have been on it for 15 years and the benefits have been superb overall. Give it time to work and I bet you will also be singing its praises!

The only down I now notice after all this time is a bit of facial hair on the chin but hey small price for happiness ! Nothing a quick pluck cannot remedy!

    Good luck ! Jenny
