I'm 50 and never been late or missed a period until two weeks ago. I've had heavy periods and hot flushing. I have felt nauseous and have a sore strange feeling in my mouth. I've had five children. Youngest 11. Please someone tell me they have experienced similar and is just menopause 😪

I have had heavy periods.Have you had your ir level checked? I had low iron and my tongue felt weird and was nauseous.

I agree it could be low iron due to heavy periods. But all your symptoms sound like peri including the burning mouth.

Hi Suzanne just curious what are symptoms of perimenopause? Just noticed what you said about dry mouth so you must know your stuff from personal experience. What does 'peri' mean and how is it different from menopause. I am 50 and have just missed a period which I never do usually?

Hi. Perimenopause is the phase before menopause. You aren’t considered full menopause until you’ve missed 12 complete months of your periods. So you are on perimeno now. Many of us suffer lots of symptoms in the peri phase and some more in meno, some both. If you google ‘66 symptoms of perimenopause’ you’ll find most of the symptoms there, but there are still even more. You can have one or all, as unreal as that sounds!

I have not had the burning mouth (gums), but my sister suffered from that in peri.

The drop in hormones can really cause all sorts of havoc in your body.

Hope that answers some of your questions.

Breeanna, I just noticed you wrote Menopause or Pregnant? Yikes. Well you can definitely still get pregnant during perimenopause. Take a pregnancy test! Especially if you just skipped a period.
