Menopause passing poo now and again

Posted , 2 users are following.

I know this sounds gross but every now and again I pass a tiny bit of poop. I have read that muscles can be affected during menopause due to lack of oestrogen. Has anyone else had this please xx

Yes, me !!!! I've started this about 2 months ago, and have googled it a lot, because I was so embarrassed. I am pretty anal (pun intended 😉 ) about wiping myself after a bowel movement, so it was a shock the first time it happened. It doesn't always happen though. I thought it was because I was eating a lot of fruit, so stopped eating it, and it stopped, but has started again, and I dont eat fruit, but lots of sugar, unfortunately. Doesn't matter how extra clean I wipe myself, the next time I go to the toilet, there is either a little poo on my panty liner, or when I wipe myself after a wee. Thankfully, it's not every time, maybe every 3rd day. I'm actually wondering if Ive got hemorrhoids and it's preventing the bowel movement to completely come out fully.

So I have finally got an answer. Saw my GP this morning, will have to put it in medical terms hope it doesn't gross you out. Here go's

when the Oestrogen levels are normal the anus is lubricated to allow the poo to come out, as Oestrogen levels drop the anus becomes dry and little bits of poo that normally come out when you go to the toilet get stuck and make there way out by themselves. Hope this helps xxx

Thanks so much for letting me know. I kept thinking of you and wondering how you got on at the doctors. I even checked last night if there were any other replies. Gross as it sounds, it's still a relief to know it's nothing sinister !! 😃

Yes it is nice to know. Funnily enough, I was going to write a post myself, and it came as quite a shock when I saw your post a day after wanting to write a post. Literally, my eyes opened wide. o_0

I didn't mind that you showed your doctor my post. Anything to help, even way over here in Australia! 😉

Wow I didn't realise you were in Australia! I have used this site for a while and just assumed it was UK as it just says Patient Info UK when I log on. If you want to chat would be nice to keep in touch 🙂
