Menppause symptoms seem to have come back

Hello

I'm 51 years old and had my last period 5 years ago. Leading up to this and in the years before I suffered really badly with menopausal symptoms. Over the last 6 months I've been getting vaginal discomfort, low mood, anxiety, dizziness, tiredness and am experiencing bladder weakness. I've had a really stressful few years and I'm now a carer to my elderly and unwell Mother as well as working as a full time retail manager. I've always suffered with anxiety but it seems so bad lately. It was only when a friend of mine mentioned it may still be menopausal that I started to wonder. Does any of this strike a cord with anyone? I'm so unbelievably low at the moment and I'm crying every day. I don't really have anyone else I can talk to so any help would be so appreciated. Thank you for reading.

    Hi Lisa,

Have you considered bio identical hormone replacement? The issues with vaginal discomfort and bladder problems is likely stemming from lack of estrogen to those tissues. Bladder infections, UTI's and vaginal atrophy ( thinning of the vaginal walls) are all telltale signs. If you have access to a alternative type doc that has studied women's menopause issues especially would be a good place to start to find real help and relief. I'm 61 , post menopause for 6 years on hormone pellets and feel great. No issues with vaginal soreness, urinary or bladder issues, anxiety or anything else. Being a care giver is hard enough without dealing with these issues. Hopefully you have a place you can try to get some help. Keep in mind, women need testosterone too. Good luck.

    Hey Lisa...

I too... suffer with horrific menopausal symptoms! That being said, I am DEEP in the throes of postmenopause, and my symptoms have gotten WORSE! My anxiety is through the roof, at times. I decided a longggg... time ago, to combat the symptoms naturally, and somedays, I feel as if I need to be doped up, because I could barely function & cope! I exercise, eat right, take herbs, vitamins and anything else naturally I can think of to avoid taking meds; yet this is my choice. Suffice it to say, MENOPUASE VENGEFULLY pushes through all of my good intentions, yet I continue to move forward! That being said, I encourage you to find out what works for you, my menopausal sister! Blessings to you & your family...

    Hi Lisa,

I am post menopausal 5 years. I have always had anxiety, but it has been off the charts. I am so sorry for what you are going through. Do you have a support system? The physical symptoms of meno are bad enough, but the psychological are just awful. I have always suffered with anxiety and OCD. Trying to find a medication I can tolerate. My psychiatrist just did genetic testing on me. I am waiting for the results. Had some post meno bleeding recently. I am going to the doctor on Saturday. This has happened before and , thankfully, was nothing. I am praying it will be nothing this time as well. It isn't easy, but I am her for you. This forum is a Godsend.
