I've tried it, but at the time i was up to 17-20 mg prednisone. I didn't see any difference, but will be trying it again once I get below 10 mg. You do need to be on it 2 weeks before you notice it working.

Thanks for replying, I am on 4.5mg of prednisone but I've been reaccessed and told I have RA not PMR as first thought. My tapering down is .5mg everyweek as it does nothing for me, I am still in pain so I thought I would give it a go.

      Hi Faye,

I just started using it, it's been about a week. Haven't noticed any difference yet, except the hole in my wallet.

How did they reaccess? If they are wrong, .5 mg every week seems way to fast to taper down, could be why you are still is pain.

Did pred ever do anything for you because it is effective in treating RA as well, although as other things work for RA they prefer not to use steroids.

I'm still waiting for the relief anyone talks about unfortunately pred just give's me all the side effects with next to no relief. I think as far as tapering down i'm doing the way my doctor said to, otherwise I could end up with more problems. I am on MTX , but I am waiting until I'm off the pred , then I'll try different meds then or if the cbd oil works then all good.

PMR by definition responds to pred. If pred provides no relief - it probably isn't PMR. Although it only provides relief if the dose is high enough...

I've just checked back and I see you were started at 50 mg, which is shocking as that is to save eyesight if someone has GCA. I don't know how quickly you tapered down to the 10 mg you describe in your earlier post, but that initial "treatment" could have been the cause of many of your problems with pred. It is a powerful medication and a high dose like 50 should only be used when necessary. Fifteen is more like it for a starting dose. But what's done is done, and if your diagnosis of RA is correct I think you are right to be seeking ways to heal which don't involve too much of what some members call the devil's tic tacs! Have you posted on the RA forum to ask about CBD?

All the best. I hope 2019 brings you better health. Please let us know how you get on.

Yes I did start at 50mg, which I questioned at the time, but you think Doctors know what they are doing, the first specialist I went to said PMR, without even looking at me, I asked for a second opinion, from another specialist, who did examined me asked a stack load of questions and said I had RA, and promptly said I needed to taper off the pred because it was doing nothing for me...so that is where I'm at ......4.5mg and counting
