Hiya I was using the mesalazine suppositories which were good but am now currently having a bad flare up so am now on the mesalazine enemas which I have found are even better,I think they work really well the only side effect I have found is the occasional headache,I've now had to start on a new drug as well which is asacol twice a day and they have settled things down for me finally as I've been quite poorly for three months, hope this helps you

    Hi Faye

I am the opposite way around I was on mezaline suppositories, then enemas, now mezavant xl 1200

It just takes a bit of time to get used to! I found it very uncomfortable & never used it at the weekend.. I wanted a decent night sleep as I felt like the foam would come right back out.

Good luck and be patient it's a tough one take care x

Everynight for over 12 months now so its just routine.

No side effects at all for me.

Hi Faye, yes I've used them quite a lot and once you get used to it I find them quite soothing, especially when inflamed. Tip:put old towel under you when using as any spillage stains bedding!! X

    Hi,

Yes I was on these for a few years, they take a bit of getting used to, but are nowhere near as painful as the expanding foam type enemas when you have a flare. Just take it slow and easy, then lie on your front for 10 mins and you'll be fine.

    CW.

Hey, I'm on mezalazine enemas. It took me a while to get used to them and it's more the mind set of doing it that's the worse part. It's a pain in the bum (not literally) having to do them every night. They give me period pain type feelings for a minute or so but apart from that it's nothingsmile I would recommend laying on your left side and staying in the same position for around half an hour (passing on previous advice). Nothing to worry about x

It does take getting used to it's just part and parcel of this rubbish UC

I disn't use it at the weekend as it made me really uncomfortable & I wanted s decent night sleep!

    Take care x

was ok w/ them but found impossible to retain once I started taking steroids at the same time - for some reason it was too uh "tickly" whilst on the Prenisone. Bizarre but true.
