Mesh removal

I've been suffering with chronic groin pain for the last 3 years, unable to walk or work. i had an inguinal hernia repair 10 years ago and have now decided to look at options to remove the mesh. can anyone recommend a good surgeon who has successfully removed their mesh? I'd be most grateful for any reccomendations?

Not sure if he can remove that mesh or not... but i had my umbilical hernia mesh removed by Dr Bailey in Maidstone UK. he is a fantastic no nonsense surgeon.

Have you had scans that show that it is the mesh that is definitely causing the pain?

I have had some relief from pelvic floor physical therapy -- worth a try if you havent tried it already. Good luck and keep us posted.

I've been doing physio for the last 2 years and am alot stronger than i was originally. however its recently been confirmed that the mesh is causing the problem, so am just trying to find a surgeon with a high success rate. Its seems a risky operation and after the recent news in the press regarding mesh removal, it would be good to hear from other people who've had successful removal surgery. I'm willing to travel!

I had an Inguinal hernia repair done 4 years ago. I also have been dealing with Chronic Pain for the last 3 years as well. After 2 years of in and out of the hospital. I was having issues working and just doing well anything.

About 2 years ago I spoke with a surgeon about possibly removing the mesh. Unfortunately he would not. He told me there were even MORE risks to removing it and it could lead to even MORE pain.

A year ago I met with a specialist who froze the inguinal nerve. It helped for about 2 months than I would need another needle. I would smoke THC and CBD prescribed by him which helped.

I just moved to another city and finally have some answers. I was in the ER and had a CT Scan done. It showed everything was fine with the mesh. It was ruled that this pain is nerve damage. I am currently waiting to see a specialist who deals with pain from hernia repairs. I have 2 options 1) using imaging to kill the nerves or 2) having key hole surgery to cut the nerves. In the mean time I have been prescribed Cymbalta. Which also helps with nerve pain. After being on it for a week I am starting to notice a bit of relief. Hasn't taking my pain away but has brought it from an 8/10 to a 7/10.

Not sure where you are located (Im in AUS) I had an umbilical hernia repair and am looking at getting mine removed. If i had inguinal hernia, I would be looking at DR Tomas in Florida. Good luck
