Hi, for some reason I cannot reply to your message as it won't save, just wanted to ask a couple of questions please. I am having the same problems as you, started early January with chest pains, also told GERD related and to keep taking my PPI's which I have done for 9 years now. I am having test after test for heart problems all coming back negative, although did have a small problem during stress test, which hospital said was common in women with large breasts. I have pain in centre of chest between breasts, behind breasts and into ribs, both sides, today my ribs are sore to touch, is this where you pain started? I also have palpitations. The reason for googling today was I am fed up with the constant pain across stomach along where bra sits, this area is so tender and sore, I also have burning type pains in lower groin area which comes and goes. I have been to GP so many times with this that I am sure they are fed up with me. I have diverticular as well as GERD and GP's say all symptoms from that. I am 56 and to be honest the minute I started menopause life has been so frustrating what with one pain or another. I was so healthy before this. The other question is did you notice that your skin was yellowing a bit, my husband said today my face looks a bit yellow as do my eyes, only slightly but worrying. I know this can be gallbladder or jaundice so I will have to be brave and make another appointment. I am sorry to rant but my GP's put everything down to IBS or GERD and as my mum was ill with gallbladder problems do not want to go down that route. Unfortunately she died a long while ago so cannot ask her about it. Thanks for reading.

A friend told me that she thought that I had looked a little yellow at times which had worried me too. I have biught some milk thistes tablets that others have surgested could help as they help your liver. I had my gall bladder removed, but i am still getting the pain under my left ribs. I also had my heart checked and I suffer from stress. I was well untill my gall bladder went bad ways and since then it one thing after another. My stomach has carmed down at the moment I have started to eat a lot of natural live yogurt with a teaspoon of honey in it which really does seem to have made a difference. I have cut out a lot of fat but not all. It horrible being ill as you start thinking all sorts of things. I try not to but I am sure it makes things worse that I worse so much

This is what terrifies me, having the surgery and then still having this pain. Have they still not managed to figure out what it is yet? I've cut out a lot of fat in my diet, I seem to be lucky and as long as I don't overdo it, I can generally eat what I want before 4/5pm. After that, it's coco pops or very, very plain food. It's a real nightmare.

I'm sorry you're in pain, I hope you find answers soon

    Hi youngatheart,

My problems strarted off with the chest pains, that I thought was acid reflux. It's gotten much worse though and it sounds like you're getting it in a similar place. My GP's and everyone at A&E keep putting it down to IBS which is frustrating, I swear the next person to tell me it's IBS will be hit. I know how awful this pain is, so I understand what you're going through. I'm writing this on the assumption that you're in the UK since you use the term GP, so please feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

Have you had any other tests other than heart tests? If you haven't, I would recommend going back to your GP and asking for at the very least; an ultrasound and an endoscopy. If they are giving you grief over it, you could always palm it off as concern for the health of your insides from the effects of GERD. But they shouldn't do. I'm no expert (since I only found out mine is probably gallstones a few weeks ago) but since it sounds very similar I'd hazard a guess in that direction. Explain to your GP that you feel like it could be gallbladder problems and ask for a referral to a GI specialist, who will hopefully then send you for more testing. I also had an MRI with contrast done, and everything showed gallstones up.

However, I haven't really experienced any palpitations or groiin pain, so I would definitely make sure you get them to look into that to make sure it isn't anything to do with any cysts anywhere (someone else around here has had similar problems with cysts).

If you are getting jaundiced, you need to get that looked at ASAP. There is no simple or relatively safe reason as to why you start to go yellow, it generally means something is very seriously wrong somewhere.

I find my pain is mostly central and left, but I have read elsewhere that sometimes the gallbladder can cause pain on either side, it's just less common on the left hand side. I could be mistaken though. Also, I found that Omeprazole makes my pain worse.

I hope you find some answers soon. If your GP ceases to be any use, ask them for a private referral. Sometimes the threat is enough to send them into some sort of action. Other times they'll just hand you the letter!

Thanks for all your comments they were really helpful, I know what you mean about IBS Sarah, that is how I found I had diverticular disease as I refused to accept IBS again. I have checked my eyes today they do not seem so bad, but will go to GP in the morning, Yes I am UK by the way. I have started eating a bit healthier, lots of apple juice, lemon in water and I brought some milk thistle so will see what happens. Take care
