Metal on metal hip

Hi- has anyone with a metal on metal hip replacement had a revision yet or was told they had a high dose of metal in their blood. I was just told  I have a high percent of metal in my blood.  I am not sure what they can do about it other than get a new replacement which I am not looking forward too. I'm pretty athletic and am worried I won't be able to do the things I do now

Any other people out there in a simalier situation?

How long ago did you have the replacement hip?  Thought the parts used today did not have this problem

I had mine done in 2007. I just started having some pain ( not much) but decided to go get a check-up and thats when I found out.

Hi Debra.   I just had a hip replacement  3weeks ago.  I can't imagine doing it again.   I had lots of swelling and problems.  In answer to your question. My mom had metal on metal done on her hip and it lasted almost 15 years.  She never had any problems? But maybe someone else on this group has a answer for you? What does your dr say?

I have a friend who had his metal on metal hip replaced. He was being made quite ill by the metal particles but the revision went well and he is very happy with his new hip,
