metallic taste!!!!!!

Please help ladies I'm going crazy with this awful metallic taste and constant nausea.

On top of all my other symptoms this is making me sick to my stomach.

My peri anxiety is in overdrive cause I keep thinking something is seriously wrong with me.

I've had bouts of it before but this has lasted three weeks.

Currently five months plus without a period.

Anyone else get this sad

I have what I describe as a sweet taste in my mouth, maybe could be metallic. Definitely not pleasant. Had for past few weeks, I thought it was the cider apple vinegar tablets I tried causing it but I stopped them after few days and it hasn't gone. I catch my self shallow breathing through my mouth sometimes, prob when stressed or anxious. Wondered if that causes funny taste in mouth. I have to consciously take deep slow breaths through my nose to correct my breathing.

    Hi Michelle,

Yes I had it for ages and in my case definitely lack of hormones as it went away about 10 weeks into starting HRT. Both the taste and constant queasy feeling.

Mine got a bit worse at 6 to 8 weeks in, so just in case that happens stick with it because it's such a relief being totally free of it (by about 10 weeks).

I haven't had it at all since and was plagued with it for most of peri. The taste wasn't quite as bad or as strong once I was post, the taste became almost lemony but still just as annoying especially after eating something very savoury.

I also think the nausea must have been something to do with the taste as they both worsened for a couple of weeks before going away.

So just came back from seeing my doctor again!!

Asked about hrt again she said it don't help with burning mouth syndrome if thats what it is.

She suggested it could be something to do with a bridge and a denture I have and to get checked by the dentist.

So have an appointment for next weds for dental check up. More money to pay out!!!

So back to the drawing board x

      Hi michelle

Did u notice that the nausea and metallic taste got worse after lanzaprasole.

My doctor said I've got to be on it for a month before I will see a difference.

I'm actually scared to take it x

I had to take lansoprazol for acid reflux. It didn't make any difference to the taste. The only thing that made it go was HRT. It also got a bit worse at weeks 6 to 8 before disappearing at about 10 weeks in.

Apart from that the only temporary relief was with extra strong mints.

    Thanks ladies for your replies.

I feel a bit calmer knowing it's probably hormone related.

My doctor wants to wait till I'm a year period free before HRT.

I'm going on nearly six months without one.

Just when I thought I had all the symptoms there was to have along comes this one.

    Nothing tastes right.

Like I said I've had these bouts before but this is the longest so far.

Hope all you lovely ladies have a hormonal free day.

    God bless x

      Hi hun

I've recently had lots of blood work done. Everything came back fine.

I was slightly anaemic when I was getting heavy periods but currently haven't had a period for six months.

All I seem to do is run to the doctor every five minutes it's getting beyond a joke.

I do have iron pills here so don't know if it's worth taking one a day to see if it helps.

I'm going dentist next week to rule that out.

      It's just exhausting x

      Hi Stella

No spotting not had anything for six months.

I do get dizzy though have done on and off for the past eight years of peri.

I suppose there is no harm in taking iron for a while to see if it helps but I have had my iron checked at least three times in the last year.

I could even ask my GP what my iron count was at the last check as I didn't bother asking her at my last visit. She just said everything was ok.

      Thanks for reply x
