Metallic taste on lips and fingers? Anyone else had this?

I am currently on Lanzoprozole for acid reflux but only been on it for about two and a half weeks. I have improved but it isnt going. Last night i had my evening meal and noticed that my lips tasted of metal when i licked them. also my fingers did. it was a terrible taste. i licked my arm to see if the rest of my body was the same and it wasnt. just my lips and fingers but not in my mouth. is this a side effect of the medication or something else?     Hi there.

    I had some metallic taste too.

    Eventually it subsided.

    I think its a small side effect.

    However do check that u dont have bleeding gums.

    I had all sorts before my body got used to ppis.

      Did you have the taste in your mouth or on your skin and lips? is this a side effect of lanzoprozole?  are you still on the medication?

      It was inside my mouth.

      I had it on omeprazole and on lnsoprazole too.

      I am on esomeprazole at moment as so far im getting some relief from it.

      Also the taste was only temporary. It went within two weeks of appearing. X

    Hi there no metallic taste but how long did it take to start working? Have been on Tecta (propantazole) for over two weeks and still as sick as when first diagnosed with gastritis and GERD thanks

      Ive been on Lanzoprozole for two and a half weeks and although i am better its not going. i have to go back to the doctor next week and have no idea what the next steps are. when i eat i feel like fluid is making me clear my chest becuase if not it will go in my lungs.

    One has to wonder what the pills are actually doing to the body to give off such a reaction.  I guess Ppi's will effect any organ of the digestive system...liver, pancreas and gallbladder as well as the stomach.  I know ppi's can cause gastritis, so hopefully there is no bleeding going on.....good thing you can talk to your doctor, or you cajole talk to a pharmacist they will know if this is a normal reaction.

    Hi Jo,

    Are things getting any better for you? I’ve been on the ppi Tecta for almost 3 weeks and I’m still dealing with horrible reflux. Don’t know if I should just stop the meds as sometimes I feel even worse than I did in the beginning. Please tell me that if I hang in there eventually I will get some relief??

    Hi, I have the exact same thing. Finger tips and lips only. Very odd. Any suggestions. I'm in good health and not on any new meds.
