Take metamucil when you are constipated and Imdium when you have diarrhoea. If what you are doing works for you, stick to what you are doing.

Well I stuck with the Metamucil and I took some imodium with me just in case may need to use it. That's the first weekend in a long long long time I have not used imodium. Did so much on the weekend as well.

This is great news. I use metamucil daily under orders from my GI specialist and it has improved my bowel function over many years. Recently, I changed my diet to one with a lot of fruits and vegetables and I thought I was getting plenty of fiber, so that I didn't need the extra fiber from the metamucil and I stopped taking it every day. BIG MISTAKE. Within 5 months I got so sick with IBS symptoms - lots of pain, constipation AND loose stools on the same day and I couldn't tolerate milk, cheese or wheat. So now I know that for me, the Metamucil isn't only adding fiber, it's stimulating my bowel to function better. I suggest you talk to your doctor as much as you can to help you figure out together what works well for you and what to try that might improve things for you. Good luck!
