Metformin or Low Carb?!

Hi,

I’m new here and would appreciate any help or advice anyone can give me. I’m just so fed up I don’t know what else to do. I will start from the beginning-

I was diagnosed with POCS about 5 years ago when I had a cyst removed from my left ovary. This resulted in my left ovary and Fallopian tube being removed. This wasn’t confirmed however, until earlier this year after many scans and tests. They have also diagnosed I have a heart shaped womb.

I have struggled with my periods all my life, never being regular.

I became pregnant in February 2019 but miscarried at around 5 weeks. I believe I conceived while on the Keto diet so no carbs but had had no periods for months.

Now I have been seeing a specialist for while and she prescribed Metformin 3x500mg a day. I have had no adverse effects of taking these and have had regular periods since starting. However, I still didn’t become pregnant and started testing for ovulation which was always negative. So I decided to try the Keto diet again and stayed with it for a week. Within this week I started spotting which lasted about 5 days.

My problem is that I am now over a week late, not pregnant and no sign of starting a period either.

Would I be better upping my dosage of metformin to 4x 500mg a day or trying low carb and seeing what happens?

Does metformin and Keto have the same effect regarding insulin?

I am desperate to just be ‘normal’ and have regular periods and ovulation fans believe that with the right diet and medication this can be done. I also believe that my insulin resistance is having a huge unknown effect on my body.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Or can advise me please? Thanks.
