Methimazole

I recently started this medication 1 month ago. I am on 15 mg a day but have been getting bad headaches. Has anyone else had this side effect? I see my Dr later this week.

I was diagnosed with a severe case of Graves in February 2016 after a routine blood test. I had no other symptoms. I was also immediately put on 20 mg of Methimazole when diagnosed. Within 2 weeks my eye lids and around my eyes swelled, I started gaining weight, I got very depressed, dry eye, but no headaches. I understand the doctor's goal was to get my thyroid levels corrected as they did and through the months they have lowered my dosage. My TSH is still higher than normal and I have been told that they can't do anything about that other than to remove my thyroid or let the autoimmune disease play itself out. Terribly frustrating to deal with.Good luck and I pray that one day they can find out what causes the body to attack itself in the form of Graves and like so many other autoimmune diseases that attack other parts of the body and find a remedy/cure.

Talk to your doc. i was on Methimazole 10 mg for Graves disease and now i am hypo thyroid. i never had any problems. Perhps this is too strong for you, or you may be having a reaction. Cll your doc, and let him know. I doubt that this is normal..

Hoping for the best for you.
