Methotrexate and high blood pressure?

I have psoriasis and mild psoriatic arthritis and take methotexrate. Just lately I seem to be having high blood pressure. I am not taking any medication for this.

However a friend of mine has just alarmed me by saying that he saw some TV programme or other and on the show they are supposed to have said that methotrexate can produce high blood pressure in some people. I checked with my pharmacist and he looked something up on the computer presumably a list of side effects and said he saw nothing about high blood pressure. I haven't spoken to my doctor about it yet but I looked on the internet and found no record of methotexrate resulting in high blood pressure. However I am not satisfied yet. I wonder if anyone knows more about this?

My friend is not the most reliable of witnesses and I wish I had seen the programme myself. However it is giving me cause for concern. If Methotrexate can cause high blood pressure in some people I am not sure I want to be on it. And of course it is a pretty toxic medicine anyway.

My doctor has told me to take one baby aspirin per day even though I have read that aspirin and methotexrate don't mix very well. He says that since it is baby aspirin I will be OK.

I am very distrustful of all this medicine stuff. Does anybody know anything about high blood pressure and methotexrate?

Did this continue?    After a couple of years on Methotrexate, I now have blood pressure issues along with high cholesterol.   Doesn't make sense since I eat a low fat, good diet.   I'm pretty health concious with my food choices...so none of it makes sense.   My cholesterol is 252 and was 180 5 years ago.    I weigh about 140 and am 5' 6".    I'm not obese or overweight.  Only change was going on Metho 2 to 3 years ago.   Having blood pressure issues now the past 6 months and high cholesterol.    I'm thinking these are side effects.

I have been on Methotrexate for almost two months and my blood pressure is up in the 140/80's range and befor it was like 112/62.. So I am also curious about this because it has been low for several years now. The only difference is the medication...

This exact same is happening to me....plus...suddenly I have high cholesterol too.  Doesn't make sense except for the Methotrexate.  Did you get an answer to this from your doctor?

Hi I'm on methotrexate due to psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, I have regular monitoring of my bp due to another drug I'm on and my readings are normal, so I don't think methotrexate raises bp.

This is exactly what I'm looking up this evening to prepare to have  conversations with my doctors.  My  blood pressure has always been slightly lower or at 120/80.   I've been taking methetrexate since june 2016 at which time I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis.  For more than 2 months now my pressure is around 140/82ish.  Too high.  Doctors do not seemed too concerned but I am.  I am on one other medicine for over 5 years (and never had a BP issue)  It is either the methetrexate alone or it is the combination of the two.
