Methotrexate and Phlegm

Posted , 4 users are following.

I've been of Methoject for about 6 months now.  Initial does of 25mg a week and now down to 20mg.  Generally I've been OK appart from initially feeling a bit sick for a dat or so after the injection.  This has improved now that I'm down to 20mg.  However, since starting I've had a constant irritation of Phlegm in the back of my throat, making me alway have to clear it or cough.  I’ve mentioned this to my GP and consultant, but neither have really had an answer on this.  Anyone else had this issue?

    Yes Ally

Phlegm is a huge problem.  My grandmother and I both suffer that side effect on MTX.  Don't know why it isn't listed in the side effects.  I am planning to see my GP to see if it is possible to change my antiacid medication, as I think it's acid reflux causing the phlegm.

Hi Lucy,  I'm on 30mg Lansoprazole for antiacid and have been for a while.  I'll perhaps ask the same question of my GP when i'm next in...

Prior to starting on my 15mg methotrexate I had always had chronic postnasal drip.  But your post does make me realize that for the past 2-3 weeks since my dose was increased to 20mg, my postnasal drip/phlegm in the back of my throat has increased & been worse.  I'm not due back to my dr till end of January but since you have brought this up I may call to ask her about it or I may check with my pharmacist.
