Methotrexate and side effects

hi everyone.

So far my mum has been on Methotrexate and has been OK side effect wise....other than very tired. Nearly 3 months ago, the rheumy increased it to 20mg to try to enable mum to get by with a lower does of prednisolone.

This morning mum said she didn't feel to good ( she was going about her early morning routine ), that she felt a bit breathless and just felt ' rough'. I made sure she laid on the bed and checked BP and pulse. BP ok but pulse showing at 145bpm. She soon felt better and I went to work. She reports she has been fine all day and that she checked her BP and pulse. BP ok and pulse, she said, 'all over the place' thought she felt fine. Once home from work, I checked it too. BP fine, pulse 88 so, also fine. However, I couldn't take a radial reading as it was so erratic I couldn't count it. Is this likely to be due to Methotrexate? Thanks for all your helpful feedback.

I don't know Paula but I was ok with mid dose then it got hired and effected my liver.I know it classed as the golden drug but can give mass side effects.I was always breathless on it too.

I would get doctor to check her over and also inform her consultant. Does she have specialist nurses she can call
